                    The Sales and Related occupations saw an increase of 3.4k job openings in August 2026, primarily driven by early efforts to build talent pipelines ahead of the fall and winter holiday seasons. The growth was further supported by steady consumer spending and a seasonal rebound following the mid-summer slowdown.

                    Closed duration, or the average number of days job listings remain live on company websites before removal, tracks hiring velocity across the U.S. economy. As the average duration increases, hiring velocity slows.

                    In August, the closed duration rose to 50.5 days from 45.3 days in July, signaling a noticeable slowdown in hiring velocity as organizations take more time to close posted jobs.
